LabelSense reads the ingredient label on a food pack and tells you whether the product suits your diet, along with an allergen summary. This page explains what information the app handles, and what it never keeps.
When you photograph a label, the photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, where an AI service (Anthropic's Claude API) reads the text printed on the label. The photo is discarded immediately after reading — it is not saved on our servers, not saved to your account, and not used to train AI models. Only the extracted text is kept.
Account details. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture, used only to create your LabelSense account and show who is signed in.
Your settings. Your chosen diet, shopping region and result style are saved so the app works the same on every device you sign in on.
Family profiles. The names, diets and allergen selections you add for family members are saved to your account. These names are chosen by you and can be nicknames or initials — they exist only so your scan results can show a line for each person.
Scan history. For each scan we save the extracted label text, the verdict and its reasons, so you can look products up again. We never save the photo itself.
Reports and confirmations. If you report a wrong verdict, your report (the label text and your note) is sent to our review queue. If you mark an ingredient as confirmed with the manufacturer, your first name is shown alongside that confirmation to other users scanning the same product.
You can use LabelSense without signing in. In that case your settings and history are kept only in your own browser's storage, on your device, and never reach our servers — except the label photo or text of each scan, which is processed as described above and not linked to any account.
Account data is stored with Supabase and the app is hosted on Vercel, both reputable cloud providers, with access restricted to your own account by row-level security. Label reading uses Anthropic's Claude API under commercial terms that do not permit training on your data.
We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not share your information with anyone except the service providers named above, who process it only to run LabelSense.
You can sign out at any time. To have your account and its data deleted, email us at the address below and we will remove it. You can also clear the app's device-local data through your browser settings.
LabelSense accounts are intended for adults. Family profiles for children are created and controlled entirely by the account holder.
